The Government of Andhra Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with QS I·GAUGE to evaluate and rate the universities in the state, using QS I·GAUGE rating system for Indian Colleges and universities. The project is titled RISE – Rating of Institutions for Sate Excellence; and will be rolled out in other states in due course.
The MOU is signed to form a mutually beneficial partnership to bring global best practises, customised to India, to the state of Andhra Pradesh by means of rating the state institutions using the QS I∙GAUGE methodology. This will provide a roadmap towards capability enhancement and building world class institutions in Andhra Pradesh.
The methogology and system has been adapted to capture the reality of the dynamic Indian higher education sector, while at the same time mintaining strict quality standards that are synonyms with the QS brand.
Speaking about the MOU, Prof S Vijaya Raju, Chairman, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), a statutory body of Government of Andhra Pradesh, said, "QS I·GAUGE will offer a gateway to our universities to compete on a global level and acquire an international reputation".
Speaking about the partnership, Mr. Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director QS Intelligence Unit in Middle East, North Africa & South Asia and CEO for QS I∙GAUGE said that “Our rating system consists of seven primary indicators and five secondary indicators, ranging from teaching and learning, employability and social responsibility to research and innovation. The results will classify colleges and universities in levels such as, Diamond+, Diamond, Gold, Silver etc, and provide twelve category level ratings for each institute. QS I·GAUGE will provide the higher education institutions in Andhra Pradesh a roadmap for institutional and academic development.”
