The first batch of Punjab Govt school headmasters depart for training at IIM Ahmedabad

Punjab: The inaugural group of school headmasters embarked on a training journey to the prestigious Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. “Their singular objective is to guarantee a quality education for students in state government schools, enabling them to effectively compete with their peers educated in convent institutions," stated the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, as he ceremoniously inaugurated the headmasters' voyage.

As good coaches produce excellent players, similarly an updated teacher will help in grooming students for the future, he added. He also said that “due to the strenuous efforts of the state government, the day is not far when Punjab will emerge as a hub of quality education.”

Ministry of Education signs 106 MoUs on the occasion of Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam, 2023

Delhi: The Ministry of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship signed 106 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with various organisations and institutions at the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2023, celebrating the third anniversary of the National Education Policy. These partnerships, including with public and private entities, aim to foster innovation, research and knowledge exchange across multiple domains, strengthening collaboration between education and industry.

Under CBSE, 15 MoUs were signed with Institutes and sector skill providers to focus on skill development and education, promoting skill assessment and capacity building. Partners include Atal Innovation Mission, IBM, Intel, Microsoft and various sector skill councils, the release mentioned. An MoU has been signed between Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and IBM to accelerate the activities conducted for effective implementation of the Vigyan Jyoti Program in JNVs, the release stated.

Under the e-Vidya initiative, NCERT has signed 20 MoUs with Departments of School Education from various states. These MoUs aim to develop high-quality eContent and distribute it through PM e-VIDYA DTH TV channels in different languages, catering to multiple stakeholders in the education sector.

UP Govt launches 5 DTH channels for schoolchildren

Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh Government has launched five direct-to-home (DTH) television channels to enhance children’s learning experience at home. The initiative is a part of the Centre’s PM e-Vidya programme. These channels will broadcast subject-wise and class-wise educational videos for students from classes 1 to 12. Additionally, videos on pre-primary education and others made especially for differently abled children will be broadcast.

The channels, which were made available free of charge on DD Free Dish and Dish TV, bring supplementary education to children’s homes in their own languages. It may be noted that the PM e-Vidya programme was launched on May 17, 2020. One of its components was the launch of DTH TV channels under the One Class-One Channel initiative.

UGC passes guidelines for Institutional Development Plan for HEIs

Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) approved the draft guidelines for the Institutional Development Plan designed for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in its recent meeting. As per the UGC, higher education institutions in India must elevate their commitment to quality significantly and establish a framework to achieve, showcase, and ensure sustainable quality. The evolving challenges and global demands, coupled with the internationalisation of higher education, necessitate a robust and unified response.

In line with the NEP 2020 objectives, the UGC has formulated guidelines for individual HEIs to create their Institutional Development Plans. These plans aim to align with the institution’s vision, mission, context, life cycle stage, location, character, and aspirations, fostering an integrated approach. Particular attention has been given to enhancing both physical and digital infrastructure. The guidelines advocate for physical infrastructure that supports academic and research activities across various schools and departments within universities.

Class 10 student from Assam's tea garden becomes District Commissioner for a day

Assam: For the first time, Bhagyadeep Rajgarh, a 16-year-old student from Bokota Nemuguri Deuriting Tea Garden in Assam, was chosen to be the Sivasagar District Commissioner for a day. This opportunity was made possible through the 'Arohan' programme, initiated by District Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav to identify talented students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds.

During the day-long meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC), Rajgarh actively participated, gaining insight into the functioning of various departments. District Commissioner Yadav expressed his belief that such endeavours would inspire students like Rajgarh to strive for excellence in their studies and pursue diverse careers, including professions like doctors, engineers, and civil servants.

Grateful for the opportunity, Rajgarh, despite facing numerous challenges in life, aspires to become an administrative officer. He credits Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the District Commissioner, and his teachers for their support in reaching this position. This initiative marks a significant step towards encouraging and motivating talented students from remote and disadvantaged communities to pursue their dreams and achieve academic excellence.

CBSE signs 15 MoUs for teachers’ training, skill development

Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has signed 15 memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote Skill Education, Assessment and Capacity building of the teachers.

This agreement has been signed keeping in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. NEP “emphasises stronger collaboration between academia and industry. The curriculum needs to be aligned with industry requirements, making provision for internships and apprenticeships for students to promote industry exposure. It is equally important to update the capacity of teachers for desired outcomes,” CBSE said in a notification.

For this, CBSE has partnered for skill development, education and training. For this, 12 MOUs have been signed with sector skill providers such as Atal Innovation Mission, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Apparel Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council, Automotive Sector Skill Council, Sports, Physical Education etc.
