Honesty shop’ launched at a Govt school in Madurai

Madurai: St Clarets Higher Secondary School in Madurai has come up with a unique way to help its students learn all about honesty — by running ‘honesty shops’. These are shops with no storekeepers and all that the students have to do is walk in, pick up whatever they wish to buy, and leave the money in a cash box.

Every Monday, the collection as well as the accounts of all the 36 honesty shops are submitted to the school by the respective classes. The best and most honestly maintained shop is lauded by the teachers and the principal during the assembly.

Hyderabad: In a groundbreaking collaboration, Blue Blocks' 7th and 8th graders have played an integral role in the design of the space lab, designed by IIT Hyderabad. This unique partnership has fostered creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning, bridging the gap between education and real-world application.

Prof Srikar from the Department of Design, IIT Hyderabad, who led the design of this Space Lab said, "Even as India breaks through new frontiers of space exploration with Chandrayaan-3, the launch of the Space Lab by Blue Blocks opens new avenues for the aspiring young minds of India. This collaboration was a successful and participatory approach across teams from IIT Hyderabad and Blue Blocks, aimed at developing novel and futuristic pedagogical tools in space science."

Govt to open research parks at IISc Bangalore, 8 IITs

New Delhi: The Government of India has sanctioned the establishment of research parks at 8 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and IISc Bangalore to promote science and Technology, and augment the research ecosystem, an official release stated. In addition to IISc Bangalore, the research parks will be established at IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Gandhinagar. These research parks at IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Delhi are functional and others are in advanced stages of completion.

The main objectives of these Research Parks are to have research collaboration with top-rated industries, to enable entrepreneurship and incubation of students and build strong academic linkages for the same, to increase outreach of academic content to industry and to enable industry to add value to the academic programme through close collaborations etc.
