India’s first Hybrid Learning Facility was inaugurated at Maratha Mandal Engineering College, Belagavi

Belagavi: The pandemic disturbed all sectors of society and revealed its fault lines - especially in the education system. The reaction to the crisis has generated some impressive responses, in some cases, public and private partnerships have filled the gaps. One such partnership is between the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Tech Avant-Garde (TAG) to transform AICTE-approved colleges from Physical to Hybrid Mode. Under this program, Maratha Mandal Engineering College in Belgaum became the first AICTE-approved college that adopted Hybrid Learning. As a result, this institution is a Lockdown Proof and NEP 2020 complaint. Hybrid Learning will create learner-centred experiences that are profoundly personalized, relevant and engaging.

In Maratha Mandal Engineering College, the following Hybrid Learning facilities are created: Hybrid Studio, Hybrid Hub Classroom and Node Classroom. All students of the college have access to Hybrid Learning in the classroom.

IISc & McGill University Astronomers use GMRT Data to detect Radio Signal In Distant Galaxy

Pune: Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and McGill University astronomers, using data from the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in Pune, have detected a radio signal originating from atomic hydrogen in a faraway galaxy. According to IISc, the astronomical distance over which the signal has been picked up is the largest ever, and far by a huge margin.

Astronomer Arnab Chakraborty, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Physics and Trottier Space Institute of McGill University, along with Nirupam Roy, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, IISc, made use of data from GMRT to detect a radio signal from atomic hydrogen in a distant galaxy at redshift z=1.29. As per the official IISc statement, the signal was emitted when the universe was just 4.9 billion years old - a look back time of 8.8 billion years.
