Modern English School (MES) has a long-standing tradition of nurturing the potential of every student and helping them pursue their aspirations. It is a private co-educational institution catering to children aged 6–18, known for maintaining a high standard of teaching and learning aligned with international benchmarks. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Its junior wing, Modern Academy, serves children aged 3–6, providing a safe, engaging, and innovative early learning environment that supports the development of confident and well-rounded individuals.

Established on 12 June 1984, MES began its journey with a modest cohort of eleven students and six teachers, offering classes from I to VI. The school was founded by Late Kuladhar Das, whose vision and dedication laid a strong foundation for its growth. He firmly believed that excellence is achievable through determination, perseverance, and patience, values that continue to guide the institution.

Over the years, MES has evolved significantly while staying rooted in its core philosophy that every child is unique. The school emphasizes creating a positive and enabling learning environment that fosters individual potential and contributes to the betterment of society. Today, MES has grown into a thriving institution with over 1,500 students, 65 teachers, and a campus spanning more than 2 acres. It includes both the junior wing, Modern Academy, and classes from I to XII.

Located in the serene surroundings of Kahilipara, the school reflects a rich cultural diversity, with students from various ethnic and indigenous communities such as Bodo, Rabha, Mising, Deuri, Karbi, Dimasa, as well as Nepali, Bengali, and Assamese backgrounds.
